¡Big Announcement! ¡Gran Anuncio!
Knowing / Saber is now available! Can you see my brig grin from over there?
Friends, something amazing happened. My poetry chapbook, Knowing / Saber, just ranked #1 in Hispanic American Poetry on Amazon.
All of you:
What!? That’s amazing!
Wait, what?! Your book is online?
Oh, I guess I should back up. My poetry chapbook Knowing / Saber is now available on Amazon (paperback/Kindle, and soon on Bookshop.org)!
Most importantly, the new edition is now in English and Spanish! When Gail Addiss, a gem and champion of Uptown writers, reached out last summer to ask if I’d like to welcome back the literary series at Bruce’s Garden in Inwood, I said yes. I immediately got to work translating a handful of the poems into castellano (what we call Spanish In Argentina), as it felt important for my largely Latin neighborhood. My beautiful and talented cousin, Maria Jose Oliver, an extremely gifted professional translator, helped me with those first few poems for the July event.
And when I decided to translate them all late last year, she held my hand through the process, making sure that each word felt accurate on a literal and spiritual level. She is a master of translation and sister of the heart. If you ever need translation services, she is an incredible resource and has decades of experience working for corporate America.
And now it is here!! Additional thanks to my dear friends and family for helping me quiet the insidious voice inside that resisted telling any of you that this is now available. And extra thanks to Bernadette Sheridan, a new friend and artist who taught me how to make this happen. Check out her lovely work!
I'm so excited to have you read the book, and hope that my words can act as a salve. Through these past four years I have learned so much about grief, beauty, friendship, family, collective mourning…and have learned what it means to hold off of that and more at the same time. In many ways it is through death that I have learned how to live. It is a practice.
I would also truly appreciate your support in getting the word out. I know each and every one of you leads lives filled with many obligations and schedules to keep, but if you feel moved, I’ve listed a few ways you can help. And if you have any other ideas, I am ALL EARS.
Write a review on Amazon. First of all, I would be so touched, second of all, it will help others who don’t know me decide whether to purchase the book. You can also follow my author page (then you’ll know when new work is published!).
Please tell your friends about the book. So many of you have already done this and I am truly touched. Thank you.
Leave a review on Goodreads or mark the book as one you Want to read/(are)Currently reading/Read.
Introductions: I’m reaching out to local bookstores and groups who plan to distribute the book there. (Related: Ask me about my Poetry for Non-Poets class. Would love thoughts on where to host it again.)
Advice: You’ll note I published this under Posnoni North Books. Posnoni is a portmanteau of my last name and Ben’s, and Posnoni North is our nickname for our weekend home upstate. Now that I know how to do this, I would like to help others get their work out into the world. I’d love to hear your thoughts on how to make that happen.
My intention and hope that is that this will send out ripples of healing and love in this world. Thank you, truly. ♡
Congratulations, Carla! Love my copy! So happy for you 💜
Congratulations, Carla, this is such a huge accomplishment, and I'm so grateful to be a part of your journey. Your work will continue to send out ripples of healing, love and beauty across the globe as it already has. Brava! I will review and share and recommend and have more ideas too :>
